Anna Julia Cooper was a scholar, educator, author, and advocate who dedicated her life to advancing the education and liberation of Black people—especially Black women. From the classroom to the pages of A Voice from the South, her work challenged the barriers placed before Black women and insisted on their intellectual power, dignity, and right to shape the future.
